Job summary
This post is based on the Infectious Diseases ward at St Mary's Hospital and is offered as two consecutive six-month appointments, commencing in February 2026 and August 2026 respectively. Alternatively, the post may be undertaken as a single twelve-month appointment. The position is designed for doctors with SHO-level experience who are seeking to develop their careers in Infectious Diseases, Microbiology, or Virology.
Main duties of the job
The role involves supporting infectious diseases ward cover in collaboration with IMT 1, including cross-cover during annual or study leave. You will provide high-quality care to inpatients and outpatients, actively participate in clinical activities such as ward rounds, clinics, and multidisciplinary team meetings, and contribute to departmental initiatives including teaching, audit, quality improvement, and academic seminars.
