Job summary
We are recruiting for a Medical Device Training & Library Officer who will facilitate medical device training and library services across the organisation.
The post holder will support the medical devices training manager in providing and recording core medical devices training, ensuring trust compliance with the Care Quality Commission (CQC) and arrange externally provided training where necessary to assist Departmental Trainers in arranging training for medical devices.
The post holder will be guided by the Trust-wide policies, strategies and long-term solutions related to medical device issues and will provide Trust-wide advice and solutions on medical device management issues.
Main duties of the job
- Facilitate and support Trust wide programmes to address training and competency for all clinical staff groups in the safe use of medical devices.
- Assist in developing strategies, policies and procedures to underpin and facilitate the implementation of device training for all staff groups.
- Actively teach and provide highly specialised advice to all staff groups in the use of basic and highly complex medical devices, requiring high-level manual dexterity and hand-to-eye coordination.
- Be responsible for the management of staff training records in relation to the above.
- Provide high levels of technical support to Trust staff in the appropriate use of specialised medical equipment on a day to day basis.
- Maintain and keep up to date a database of staff competency on medical devices and of Key Trainers (Train the Trainers), ward managers/equivalent.
- The post holder will supervise an effective equipment library service to all wards / departments and maintain library services in line with departmental objectives.
