Highly Specialist Major Trauma Physiotherapist

We are seeking a static band 7 Major Trauma Physiotherapist who has a breadth of experience within trauma and Major Trauma to be based at St Mary's hospital. In this role, you will be supported by experienced Band 8 clinicians and fully integrated into a skilled and collaborative multidisciplinary team.

Your clinical caseload will be varied and stimulating, encompassing complex trauma, chest trauma, elderly trauma, neuro-trauma and neurosurgical pathways. You will also have opportunities to engage with the North West London Trauma Rehab Network, contributing to the development of patient pathways, enhancing patient experience and supporting therapy education initiatives.

Main duties of the job

  • This role offers an exciting opportunity to take on a key clinical leadership position, with responsibility for driving the development and delivery of physiotherapy services within Major Trauma and Acute Neurosciences.
  • In collaboration with these senior colleagues, you will provide expert clinical guidance to the wider physiotherapy service and to the broader multidisciplinary team. Physiotherapists are integral to the acute patient pathway, ensuring that patient needs are consistently met, pathways are effectively coordinated and discharge planning is seamless. This includes maintaining clear communication with inpatient, outpatient and community services, and working in partnership with our Rehabilitation Consultant to support high-quality, patient-centred care.
  • The post includes participation in weekend working as part of contracted hours, with rota details held locally. Weekend duties will commence once the appropriate induction and required competencies have been completed. The role may also involve participation in the overnight on-call rota, again following full induction and achievement of the necessary competencies, with rota details available within the department.

Essential

  • Degree (or equivalent) in Physiotherapy
  • State registration with the Health Professions Council
  • Evidence of CPD through maintenance of a portfolio, especially in the relevant clinical area
  • Clinical Educators course or equivalent

Desirable

  • Membership of the Professional Organisation
  • Membership of Professional special interest groups relevant to speciality
  • Relevant Postgraduate clinical qualification
  • Management skills or leadership training

Experience

  • Significant recent clinical experience in relevant clinical area
  • Evidence of a broad base of clinical experience at Band 6 level or equivalent
