Trust Grade Doctor (F2 level) in Respiratory & Acute Medicine

Job summary

There are two Trust Doctor posts within the Division for Medicine and Integrated care, for 4 months. One post is in Acute Medicine at Charing Cross Hospital and the other is in Respiratory Medicine. Trust doctors are based on the ward. The day starts with a MDT review of potential ward discharges. Patient-orientated tasks arise from the ward round where Trust Doctor's present the new patients. The rest of the day is spent continuing the care of the patients on the ward, completing specific tasks from the ward round and dealing with acutely unwell patients.

Main duties of the job

The general responsibilities of the post-holders are to:

o Daily review of all patients admitted in their allocated ward areas

o Attend MDT meetings and lead these meetings in the absence of the consultant or registrar

o Take part in the General Internal Medicine on call rota

o Teach junior medical/paramedical staff and Year 3 and Year 6 medical studies of Imperial College School of Medicine.

The post holder will be expected to attend the structured teaching programme provided by the department and regular FY1 teaching. During a normal day on the ward the Trust Doctor will summaries the new patients on the ward and update the list of patients. They will present on the ward round and priorities any tasks created during the round. After the ward round the Trust Doctor will continue to complete tasks and deal with unpredictable events such as deteriorating patients. They will also be involved in discussions with family members and continue to care for the patients on the wards.

  • On GMC Register with license to practice
  • MBBS or equivalent

Relevant experience

  • At least completed Foundation Year 1 training
  • At least 6 months experience working clinically in the NHS as a doctor
  • Experience of working for a minimum of 4 months in a medical specialty

  • MRCP (any part completed, please specify if which of Part 1, 2, PACES is completed) Experience working in acute or respiratory medicine
