Job summary
We have a vacancy for an enthusiastic and dedicated Band 3 IR Imaging Assistant to work within our Interventional Radiology Department across sites.
You will have the opportunity to work closely with the IR and CNS team with some administrative tasks, and support and look after patients undertaking interventional radiology procedures.
This role is fairly new within the team where support and training will be provided to the candidate to have a positive development within the Trust.
.You will receive support from our clinical educator and clinical nurse specialists, as well as the senior team, in a friendly team environment, and be able to broaden your experience by working within a experience health professionals. The development and training include venipuncture, cannulation, and assisting IR procedures like US and CT guided biopsies, as well as basic observation taking and assessment.
This role is essential for the smooth and safe delivery of patient care, mainly for minimum invasive procedures. Training will be provided on sterile techniques, scrubbing and circulating during IR procedures, and specific IR equipment.

Main duties of the job
The post holder will primarily help provide a seamless service for patients attending imaging for an interventional procedure under Ultrasound, CT or fluoroscopic guidance. The purpose of this role is to support the interventional diagnostic and treatment services.
The role will be cross sites, allocated based on procedure list requirements The post holder and will be required to work both autonomously using their own initiative and within the team in the development and delivery of the minimal invasive procedure services.
This role also entails providing support to the clinical nurse specialist team. The post holder will be predominantly responsible for ensuring the prompt and complete preparation of the patient prior to entering the scanning rooms as well as assisting the operator's intra-procedure.
It is expected that the post holder is highly computer literate, experienced within the hospital setting with knowledge and evidence of medical terminology, educated to a level required to perform the role or equivalent experience.
