Tissue Viability Nurse

Job summary

We are looking for highly motivated individual to join our high performing Tissue Viability team. You will join a small team of expert nurses providing care for patients across multiple hospital sites.

Ideally you will have undertaken the Tissue viability course at level 6 or 7 and have a desired interest into Tissue Viability. You will have undertaken QI initiatives at ward level to demonstrate your interest in this subject and will be asked to demonstrate this at interview. You will be educated to degree level and have the ability to interpret data used within the Trust on a daily basis.

You will have had previous experience as a Tissue Viability Nurse and will understand the complexities that this job entails. Ideally you will be competent at sharp debriding and be able to apply compression bandages to patients.

The role is patient facing across all Divisions within the Trust. From our smallest patients in neonates to our most seriously ill patients in critical care, no wound will phase a Tissue Viability Nurse. The service operates over five days and across all sites, you will be expected to cross cover for colleagues and make plans of care for patients.

Part of this role will be around education for staff as well as patients and their carers, you will be proficient at teaching and be able to deliver on a wide range of subjects.

Main duties of the job

To provide professional and clinical leadership and expertise in the specialty of tissue viability and act as a resource for education and clinical expertise both in hospital setting.

To be responsible for the provision of services to patients at risk from and with pressure areas though out the Trust which includes risk assessment form admission to discharge.

To be competent and up-to-date in treatment options for patients requiring TVN services.

Develop an individualised patient focus service respecting diverse cultural and ethnic backgrounds .

To advise on the usage /purchase of pressure reliving equipment and other equipment/ resources based on clinical effectiveness and evidence based practise.

Report to Tissue Viability Nurse Lead nurse any increased usage of products that may adversely effect the trusts bed management contract.

Advise on infection control issues related to TVN services.

Develop the TVN service to become national leaders in the field of TVN hospital based services.

To be accountable for pressure reliving product usage and timely step down.

Develop links with community TVNS and district nurses.
