Job summary

We are looking for a physiotherapist who is wishing to take the next step in their career as part of our dynamic pelvic health physiotherapy department. This exciting fixed term contract offers you the opportunity to work in a large team with an excellent reputation.

As a specialist department, this is the ideal location for you if you want to build on your foundation skills and develop expert knowledge in specialisms from management of musculoskeletal problems in pregnancy to pelvic floor dysfunction.

Our work includes managing obstetric and gynae-oncology wards, musculoskeletal obstetric and pelvic floor dysfunction outpatient clinics, and classes including, core stability and a healthy pregnancy advice group.

The fixed-term post will give you the opportunity to build on and extend your clinical expertise and also develop your supervisory skills. Education and training are key elements of the department. The applicant should have some experience of working in a pelvic health physiotherapy setting either at undergraduate or post qualification level.

Main duties of the job

1.1 To be professionally and legally accountable for all aspects of your own work, including safe use of equipment, and the management of patients in your care.

1.2 To provide comprehensive and specialist physiotherapy assessment and diagnosis for patients with a range of presentations, by utilising clinical reasoning, evidence-based knowledge, investigative and analytical skills and specialist manual assessment techniques.

2.1 To use advanced communication, implementing a range of verbal and non-verbal skills, with patients and carers to motivate, maximise rehabilitation potential and to ensure an understanding of their condition.

2.2 To communicate the condition-related clinical findings gained from assessment to carers, families and members of the multi-disciplinary team and other professions.

3.1 To plan and organise time efficiently and effectively with regard to patient management, appropriate use of time and scheduling of other tasks.

3.2 To decide priorities for own work, balancing other patient related and professional demands, and ensure that these remain in accordance with those of the team as a whole.

4.1 Be an active member of the in-service training programme by attendance at, delivery of, participation in and organising, in-service training programmes, tutorials, individual training sessions, external courses and peer review.

Experience

  • Post graduate experience in musculoskeletal or pelvic health physiotherapy
