Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust

Haematology Clinical Research Fellow

The closing date is 29 October 2025

Job summary

The successful applicant will have up to 1 year of protected full-time clinical research, with responsibility for clinical trial visits.

This is an opportunity for an individual to gain sub-specialist expertise and research experience in Immune haematology conditions and clinical trials. The position is suitable for individuals who would like more clinically based experience in the management of patients, clinical trial exposure and the opportunity to undertake prospective and retrospective patient outcome studies with a view to presentation and publication. Collaborations across Imperial College and with other institutions will be encouraged.

Main duties of the job

Applicants interested in the post will work with Prof Nichola Cooper and the haematology clinical trials unit. We have a dedicated non-malignant haematology clinical trials unit which is experienced in delivering commercial and academic clinical studies. The trial unit has developed and delivered a number of investigator lead studies, involving all aspects of trial planning and delivery from research design to protocol development, ethical approval study implementation and data analysis, and candidates with an interest in developing and implementing clinical studies would be welcomed.

The successful candidate will be expected to improve recruitment to clinical trials in these rare diseases, and to publish their work in high quality peer reviewed journals, and if appropriate to obtain research grant funding, to collaborate widely within and outside the Faculty of Medicine, and to help supervise the research training of junior clinicians and scientists. The postholder will be expected to undertake development training as guided by the Postgraduate Education Committee at Imperial; this includes core requirements in courses provided by Imperial College, which aim to increase translatable skills for academics.
