Job summary

Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust is inviting applications for a Consultant Urological Surgeon with a subspecialist interest in Functional Urology and Surgical Andrology. This is a unique opportunity to join a world-class multidisciplinary team at one of the UK's leading academic health science centres, where clinical excellence, innovation, and education are at the heart of everything we do.

Based primarily at Charing Cross Hospital, the successful candidate will contribute to the delivery and development of specialist services in functional urology and andrology, including complex diagnostics, & reconstructive surgery. You will be part of a highly skilled team of 14 consultants, supported by nurse specialists, and allied health professionals, delivering care to over 26,000 outpatients and performing 5,000 surgical procedures annually.

This post offers the opportunity to work within a European Academy of Andrology training centre, & a designated Sacral Nerve Stimulation (SNS) centre for North West London. You will also be involved in the development of a dedicated neuro-urology service, led by Professor Marcus Drake, and collaborate with a wide network of specialists across Imperial and partner institutions.

Main duties of the job

As Consultant Urological Surgeon, your responsibilities will include:

Clinical Care

Provide outpatient consultations for patients with functional urology and surgical andrology conditions.

Conduct urodynamic diagnostic tests and endoscopic surveillance for bladder cancer.

Perform operative procedures including artificial urinary sphincter placement, penile prosthesis surgery, and reconstructive urological surgery. Participate in multidisciplinary team (MDT) meetings and actively manage patient pathways.

Act as an educational supervisor and mentor to junior doctors.

Participate in departmental teaching, audit, and M&M meetings.

Research and Innovation

Engage in translational research in collaboration with Imperial College London.

Contribute to clinical trials and academic initiatives in neuro-urology, andrology, and reconstructive surgery.

Lead clinical audits, incident reporting, and implementation of NICE guidelines.

Contribute to strategic planning, service development, and performance management.

Ensure compliance with infection control, safeguarding, and professional standards.

Team Collaboration

Work closely with a multidisciplinary team including urologists, colorectal surgeons, neurologists, urogynaecologists, and nurse specialists.
