Senior Fellow in Complex Trauma/Lower Limb Reconstruction

Job summary

Applicants are invited to apply for the post of a Senior Fellow in Complex Trauma / Lower Limb Reconstruction from Jan 2026 for a period of 6-10 months. Applications from October 2027 are also welcome and please state which term you would like to be considered for.

The fellowship offers the full range of limb reconstruction surgery in adult, paediatric, elective and trauma settings with a wide diversity of mentors and expertise. This will include adult and paediatric deformity, trauma, orthoplastics and bone infection. There is also opportunity to gain exposure to rib fixation and management of chest wall injuries.

The Major Trauma Centre at St Mary's provides a huge opportunity to gain experience in the management of and surgery related to, high volume major trauma and polytrauma. The elective centre at Charing Cross has been designated the regional Major Revision Centre. The successful candidate will join a young and vibrant department, with additional opportunities to conduct research, take part in leadership and audit programmes and help organisation of middle grade work. Many of our previous candidates have progressed on to consultant posts.

Main duties of the job

The fellow will divide their time between outpatient clinics, inpatient cover and trauma / elective operating lists. Operating lists include both independent and supervised trauma theatre cover at St Mary's and elective lists at Charing Cross. There will be a degree of flexibility to accommodate the successful candidate's preferences and interest
