Job summary

This is a clinical role which requires onsite working Monday - Friday 9-5pm.

Maintain and promote effective communication both verbally and in writing with all members of the multi-disciplinary team and Trust-wide, including formal presentation of information relating to your service. Communication will take place using formal and informal methods.To assist in outbreak management and control and be an active member of any outbreak group, providing information for action and initiating those actions.

Provide support and advice in the risk assessment process when requested by clinical teams or on identification of a risk issue during specialist reviews and/or audits. Also provide both written on infection control matters such as isolation and cohorting as necessary.Communicate and demonstrate politeness, courtesy and sensitivity in dealing with patients/clients, visitors/relatives and colleagues, by overcoming barriers to understanding and maintaining good customer relations.

Collaborate with the rest of the Infection Control team.Take an active role in change management to improve and/or change evidence based practice.

Participate in Imperial College Healthcare organisational development plans to transform the hospital to meet the needs of the present and the future upholding Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust shared values. Promote the corporate image of the Trust to all individuals, groups and organisations both within the Trust and to the community at large.

Main duties of the job

Assess, plan, implement and evaluate programmes of care, providing specialist infection prevention and control advice. and actively seeking evidence based practice that will improve the quality of care and meet the needs of all patients.

Maintain and update own clinical expertise and contribute as a role model to ensure the delivery of service is at highest possible level to meet Trust-wide requirements.

To ensure the provision of advice is in accordance with Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trusts' Polices & procedures.

Ensure that relevant documentation is maintained to the Trust standard using electronic patient records.

Maintain data quality standards for IPC-Live, or similar systems in the future

To act as patient advocate in line with the NHS plan and to actively apply in depth knowledge of holistic/socio-economic and cultural aspects of the care to clients within your specific specialty, acting as a role model and resource for patients, relatives and staff.

To assist in the investigation of complaints, accident reports and untoward incidents.

To assist in identifying clinical risks and ensure that appropriate action is taken, in accordance with the Trust Quality and Safety Management policy.

Work in partnership with support staff to ensure that care, treatment and service needs are meet.

To be aware of and champion current trends and developments in healthcare, nursing and in the NHS.
