Job summary
At Queen Charlotte's Birth Centre we are looking for an enthusiastic Band 6 midwife who can demonstrate excellent decision making and communication skills, with the ability to liaise with the multi-disciplinary team to facilitate safe care and provide an enhanced patient experience.
This is a fantastic opportunity to develop your skills in supporting physiological birth, within a bio-psycho-social model of care and minimise unnecessary interventions. You will be supported by the core Birth Centre team including Band 7s and Matron and contribute to the provision of midwife-led care at Imperial.Specifically working at the Birth Centre will enable you to:-
- Gain confidence in facilitating water births.
- Gain confidence in facilitating active births.
- Gain confidence in working autonomously and knowing when to refer to MDT.
- Gain confidence in counselling women with personalised care plans.

Main duties of the job
- Provide high quality, evidence-based care and advice to women throughout the antenatal, intrapartum and postnatal periods.
- Enhance the woman's experience of care and ensure that the needs of the woman are placed at the centre of care delivery.
- Liaise appropriately with services to ensure safe and effective care is provided to women at the right place, and at the right time. Act as an advocate for women, whilst safeguarding her and her wider family and social group where appropriate.
- Be flexible and support the maternity service by working in other areas when needed .
- Be flexible and open to new ways of working as we review and re-evaluate our service.
- Contribute to the delivery of the Trust's objectives by working to improve clinical outcomes, increase productivity, efficiency and quality in care delivery.
