Job summary
We are on the lookout for an enthusiastic and highly skilled Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) to join our Neurology team at Imperial College Healthcare Trust. This role focuses on providing expert care and support to patients with epilepsy, offering a remarkable opportunity to contribute to a holistic and patient-centred epilepsy care service.
As a Clinical Nurse Specialist in Epilepsy, your primary responsibilities will include leading the delivery and coordination of specialised nursing care for epilepsy patients. You will manage a caseload of patients, encompassing assessment, diagnosis, and treatment planning, and provide expert advice and education to patients, carers, and healthcare professionals across various care settings, including primary, secondary, and social care.
Additionally, you will run nurse-led clinics and play a significant role in service development, audit, and education initiatives.
The ideal candidate will possess advanced clinical assessment skills and be capable of working autonomously. A compassionate and patient-focused approach, combined with excellent communication and leadership skills, is essential. The role also requires a willingness to travel across sites and collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams.

Main duties of the job
- Lead specialist epilepsy services across the region
- Accept referrals from GPs, neurologists, oncologists, and obstetricians
- Deliver advanced assessments, diagnosis, and treatment plans
- Run nurse-led outpatient clinics (1 new patient + 2 follow-ups weekly)
- Manage drug therapy, emergency care planning, and ongoing reviews
- Maintain high standards of clinical documentation
- Contribute to audits, research, and service development
- As a Trust-wide advisor, you'llchampion epilepsy education across the system -- from frontline staff to external agencies. You'll empowerpatients and carers with knowledge on management, legal rights, and lifestyle adaptations, andcontributeto national and international study days.
- You'll be a connector -- translating complex information with clarity and compassion. You'll work closely with multidisciplinary teams, epilepsy associations, and community resources to ensure every patient receives holistic, joined-up care.
