Work at the forefront of cardiac diagnostics, where you'll handle a full spectrum of investigations, including ECGs and Holters. With our large cardiac rhythm management program, you'll have the chance to contribute to the care of our patients.

We are a team comprised of motivated and skillful Consultant cardiologists, Cardiac Physiologists, Associate practitioners, Cardiographers and Cardiac nurse specialists. We are looking for a caring and hard-working Band 3 Physiologist assistant or Health Care Assistant who would like to specialise in the Cardiology field.The ideal candidate will be expected to handle 24hr ECG's, holter monitor fittings, blood pressure monitors.

We have two openings at Charing Cross Hospital and Willesden Cardiac Diagnostic Centre although the post holder would be expected to rotate cross sites as needed.

Main duties of the job

  • To assist the Cardiac Sciences General Manager and Senior Principal Cardiac Physiologist in ensuring that all relevant national legislation (Working Time Directive, Agenda for Change, etc.), Trustwide policies and local policies, protocols and procedures are implemented and adhered to.
  • To assist in the capture and storage of clinical data and audit outcomes. To provide any other information that may be necessary from time to time, and carry out administrative tasks as required.
  • To help in maintaining and developing services in terms of quality, safety, efficiency and cost effectiveness, in accordance with Trust policy, whilst developing one's own professionalism and expert knowledge and skills.
  • To practice aseptic techniques where appropriate, understand the importance of sterility and general hygiene, and ensure compliance with the Trust's Infection Control Policy at all times.
  • To ensure correct usage, safety and appropriate maintenance of equipment, undertaking and enforcing safe working practices, and maintain a safe and acceptable working environment in accordance with the Trust's Health and Safety regulations.
  • To understand the postholder's own role as a member of a multidisciplinary team, recognising and respecting the needs of other professionals, and realise one's own limitations of knowledge, experience and ability, and to recognise situations that may require more expert or medical intervention, seeking appropriate support or assistance as and when necessary.

Essential

  • Good standard of general secondary education, literacy and numeracy
  • Basic &/or Immediate Life Support trained and Certificated by Resuscitation Council, UK
  • To have successfully undertaken specialist short courses in relevant clinical-technical disciplines

Desirable

  • An A level in Science.

Experience

Essential

  • Proven administrative skills and computer literacy as required for routine use of clinical and patient database systems
  • Experience of dealing with the general public in a calm, competent and professional manner, and show discretion

  • NHS experience in relevant specific area

  • Ability to interact sensitively with a broad range of Patients and the general public
