Job summary

The Women's Health Research Centre (WHRC) at Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust and Imperial College London is dedicated to making a real difference in women's reproductive health and childbirth. Our work is centred on improving care, outcomes and experiences, and we are now looking for someone who shares this passion to join us as a Clinical Research Assistant Practitioner.

This exciting new role will focus on the Generation Study, sponsored by Genomics England, which is exploring the possibility of screening newborn babies for around 200 rare conditions at birth using umbilical cord blood. As part of the team, you will be involved in collecting samples, registering participants, managing data and supporting families who take part. You will also help with ordering essential supplies and play an active role in participant recruitment.

While much of your time will be spent on the Generation Study, you may also have the opportunity to work on other research projects in gynaecology and maternity, gaining valuable experience across a wide range of women's health research.

Main duties of the job

  • To support the research delivery teams in the facilitation of efficient, safe and participant focused researc
  • To demonstrate an awareness of the life cycle of a research project from inception to study close out supporting all administrative protocol related tasks to include:
  • Maintenance of Investigator Site
  • Accurate transfer of source data to case report form
  • Processing amendment-Archiving of closed studies
  • To be willing to be trained and assessed in performing clinical examinations required of the protocol, such as vital signs, ECG's, phlebotomy and others
  • To support the safe collection, processing, storage and transfer of biological samples for patients in accordance to the study protocol
  • To act as the first point of contact for clinical staff and patients dealing with both face to face and telephone enquiries and correspondence in an effective, courteous and timely manner
  • To be responsible for the day to day organisation of the research office; handling mail, maintaining adequate stationery supplies and ordering of necessary supplies and equipmen
  • To work in according to good clinical practice and research governance standards for clinical research studies
  • To collect data from patient medical records and transcribe to Case Report Forms (CRF) as per Good Clinical Practice (GCP)
  • To ensure maintenance of Investigator Site Files and accurate recording of the delegation log
