Job summary
As a Clinical Scientist you will be responsible for providing high quality clinical work for the Adult Audiology Service ensuring that our service users' needs are fully met. As a centre of excellence you will offer a person-centred approach to their audiological needs.
- They will provide clinical and advanced audiological, vestibular assessment and aural Rehabilitation services.
- The post holder will assist in the day to day management of the Audiology Service and to deputise for Clinical Service Leads.
- The role involves supervision mentoring and training of junior staff and students. The post holder will work with the clinical leads to ensure that clinical and professional standards are maintained at all times and must maintain continuous personal professional development whilst working towards higher levels of professional competence
- The role will include additional responsibilities such as acting as the STP training officer and audit lead.
Main duties of the job
- To provide clinical and advanced audiological and vestibular assessment services.
- To provide aural rehabilitation for adults which includes providing counselling to distressed patients about their hearing loss and associated problems, and to have the ability to make decisions about the most appropriate course of treatment for the patients in their care.
- To be involved in the Improving Quality in Physiological Services (IQIPS) accreditation process.
- To be responsible for monitoring the continued professional development for all staff within the Audiology Service.
- To be responsible for the clinical supervision of trainee and assistant audiologists and other visitors providing instruction/seminars in audiological techniques to trainees studying for professional exams and existing staff.
- To assist in the day to day management of the Audiology Service.
- To carry out general duties and maintain a programme of continuing professional development working towards high levels of professional competence.
- To deputise for Clinical Service Leads.
