We are offering a great opportunity to lead clinical research trial delivery in one of the most dynamic and well-respected Academic Health Science Centres within the UK. This post offers a unique opportunity for an individual who would like to further develop their career within the area of clinical research and leadership, and gain valuable experience in clinical trial operations, from setup through to conclusion in the specialty of Neurology, including Multiple Sclerosis, Parkinson's Disease and MND.
The Senior Divisional Research Nurse will be responsible for overseeing a team of four clinical research nurses and a clinical research assistant, and ensuring the smooth running of participant recruitment and visits for studies adopted by National Institute of Health Research (NIHR) and commercial trials.
Using initiative and strategy, the team leader will manage day-to-day activites, link with multidisciplinary clinical teams and other researchers in the neurosciences research department, and work with the Lead Research Nurse for Neurosciences, achieving outcomes, participant recruitment and positive team culture, to continue the successes of the team.
Main duties of the job
- Takes an active lead in the setting up, coordination and management of clinical research studies.
- Demonstrates a detailed knowledge and understanding of different research designs and methodologies and the regulatory and legal frameworks related to clinical research studies.
- Provides comprehensive advice and guidance on matters relating to research ethics and governance.
- To advise staff and researchers, acting as a knowledgeable resource on matters relating to clinical practice and research, promoting an active and effective research culture.
- To co-ordinate the care of your own caseload of clinical research study participants.
- To contribute to the development of research protocols.
- To assist in the process of gaining local regulatory committee approval (ethics and R&D approval).
- Continue your own professional development keeping updated with current practice.
- Leads on the professional and educational development of staff.
- Coordinate own portfolio of clinical studies.
