We have an exciting opportunity for a band 7 lead midwife to join our well established midwifery team looking after elctive c.section and induction of labour ( IOL) clients. we would like to improve the experience for such clients within our unit.
As a senior clinical leader you be responsible for the safe, effective and woman centred care within our maternity department. The role provides strategic and operational leadership to ensure high standards of care, clinical governance and adherence to national and local guidelines. The post holder will work collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team, including obstetric, anesthetic and neonatal colleague to provide clear clinical leadership and expertise. you will oversee the planning, coordination and implementation of evidence-based care pathways, ensuring safe escalation, timely decision making and positive experience for our service users.
This role requires a highly motivated and experience senior midwife with strong leadership, communication and decision making skills. As the lead midwife, you will be pivotal in shaping the future of induction and elective c.section services, ensuring safety, quality and compassion remain at the heart of our maternity service. you will be conducting audits and analysis service performance, patient outcome, and feedback to identify areas for improvement and sustainability.
Main duties of the job
- You will be required to care for the women/birthing people admitted for elective c.section/ IOL as an autonomous practitioner.
- This will involve liaising with the obstetric team and working closely with the labour ward coordinator.
- You will manage the daily IOL and elective c.section admissions, ensuring the clients are accommodated according to their clinical priority. you will be conducting individual risk assessment to ensure appropriate place for each inductions and priority for elective c.sections.
- You will be competent in providing the necessary care and advice to the women under your care depending on their needs and carry out total midwifery care during the whole period of admission. we expect you to have a sound knowledge of all areas of midwifery practice.
- You will be working in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team to ensure the safety of both mothers and babies.
