Therapy Practice Facilitator (Education)

Job summary

We have an exciting opportunity to join our therapy team as the practice education facilitator. The aims of this role are to lead in the development of learners undertaking practice placements here at Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust, alongside supporting our therapy support worker undertaking apprenticeships and preceptees.

This role is designed to influence the quality of the clinical learning environment by providing support, educational input and development activities for learners, mentors, and practice supervisors/assessors within Trust. The role will support clinical education strategies that can sustain a higher number of placements.

You will work alongside multiple professional teams across our sites with a range of clinical specialities and have the opportunity to develop your communication, mentoring and service development skills.

Main duties of the job

  • In collaboration with Education Providers ensure the appropriate management of the portfolio of placements within the Trust and facilitate the sharing of best practice to continuously enhance both the learning opportunities and support strategies for students, apprentices and their mentors/practice supervisors/practice assessors.
  • The role will also support newly qualified therapists undertaking preceptorship and support the development of therapy support workers including those undertaking pre-reg apprenticeships.
  • To provide the best learning opportunities and deliver dynamic therapy pre-registration education that prepares students for professional life.
  • Build and sustain a vibrant learning environment for our students and apprentices that leads to successful recruitment and retention.
  • Develop, in partnership with others, opportunities for students' apprentices and therapy support workers to identify and access learning experiences that meet their individual needs.
  • Develop high quality mentorship, supervision and assessment to support students and apprentices throughout their pre-registration journey
  • Determine, with others, audit criteria against which learning environments may be judged for their effectiveness in meeting HEI requirements and continually improve upon these.
  • Explore and implement strategies for continuous quality improvement of the learning environment.
  • Promote development of enquiring, reflective, critical and innovative approaches to learning.

  • Minimum of first degree or relevant experience and post registration CPD courses / activities

  • Evidence of Masters Level 7 relevant education

  • Up to date clinical therapy skills and experience gained in an acute environment at band 6/7
  • Evidence of credible leadership and experience in people management, and, improving the patient experience through improvement work, research or audit

  • Significant experience in supervising students
