Main duties of the job
To be responsible for assessing the fitness of adult patients for anaesthetic prior to surgery within the pre-assessment clinics across on any site across Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust.
To provide high quality, effective, individualised care to pre-operative patients and organise specific needs resulting from the assessment of these patients without supervision. This is done within the framework of a nurse-led clinical environment with individual caseload management responsibilities.
To instigate nursing, medical and support investigations and services for patients prior to admission to hospital and to liaise with wards, theatre, admission and discharge teams with regards to special needs of the patients with minimal support.
To ensure that the needs of the patients are placed at the centre of care
To contribute to clinical and professional support to the teams in both Elective Admissions and Pre-Operative Assessment.
Contribute to standards of nursing care and take appropriate action to maintain and improve them.
To respond to patients, relatives and carers concerns as they arise and take remedial action as required.
