Job summary
The HIV and Sexual Health research team, based at St Mary's Hospital, is looking for a Band 7 Senior Clinical Research Nurse/Practitioner oversee the delivery of research studies, and manage the research team. This is a 12 month fixed-term contract, with a view to extend. It provides an opportunity for an enthusiastic, hardworking and highly motivated individual to support the expansion of the research portfolio, and develop the clinical research delivery team. The team currently support research into HIV and associated comorbidities and ageing, HIV functional cure and long-acting medications, treatment optimisation and sexual health.
The successful applicant will gain managerial experience, while using their research and clinical skills to support research delivery in partnership with senior clinical staff and principal investigators. They role is based at St Mary's, but occasionally there will be travel to Hammersmith Hospital and Charing Cross Hospital. The post is looking for a dynamic individual, keen to create changes and improvements to increase research recruitment in this important and fascinating clinical area.
Main duties of the job
- To facilitate efficient, safe, high quality care and support for patients participating in research.
- Demonstrates high level clinical, technical and research skills through breadth and depth of knowledge.
- To support and work with clinical teams to ensure research is embedded in the patient care pathway.
- To provide professional and clinical leadership to the research teams, promoting a culture that supports patient centred care.
- To be a key player in the feasibility process of new studies in your clinical area.
- To take a lead role in the study set up process, being aware of research costs and support the speedy set up of gaining local permission for research studies.
- To provide research and clinical leadership across the whole spectrum of the research pathway.
- Acts as a role model demonstrating high standards of care and providing clinical leadership to others.
