Job summary
The Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust Infection team is excited to announce the availability of a fixed term post (8 PA) maternity cover post for 12 months for a consultant microbiologist/Infectious diseases physician with an interest in Mycobacterial diseases.
This post is a collaboration between Imperial college healthcare NHS trust (ICHNT) and the UKHSA National Mycobacterial reference service (NMRS).
The post will be hosted by ICHNT as the primary employer and will be split 50:50 between the 2 organisations.
Main duties of the job
At ICHNT, the post will be based at Hammersmith and St Mary's hospitals. The successful applicant will participate in TB clinics, MDTs, patient reviews and the ward TB consultant rota.
At NMRS, the post holder will work with a team of consultants delivering the clinical and laboratory management services provided by the Laboratory, including clinical and health protection advice.

Essential
- Full and Specialist registration (and with a licence to practise) with the General Medical Council (GMC).
- Applicants that are UK trained, must ALSO be a holder of a Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) in Infectious Diseases +/- General Medicine OR Medical Microbiology Or Virology, or be within six months of award of CCT by date of interview.
- Applicants that are non-UK trained, will be required to show evidence of equivalence to the UK CCT
- FRCPath or show evidence of equivalent qualification
Knowledge/ Skills
Essential
- Broad experience in Clinical microbiology and Infectious Diseases
- Recent experience in tuberculosis management, including treatment, prophylaxis, infection control, public health and laboratory diagnostics
- Practical experience of application of genomics for Infectious diseases control
- Understanding of key agencies involved in the public health infrastructure
- Ability to design, develop, interpret and implement policies
- IT Skills and computer literacy
