Job summary

This is an exciting role which will offer candidates the opportunity to continue to work in a clinical environment whilst also developing their research skills. The post holder will be part of a multidisciplinary team including experienced clinical and research staff, taking part in a wide range of clinical research studies. The role responsibilities will include the delivery and administration of systemic anti-cancer therapies and investigational research treatments, whilst collaborating with the research teams to ensure studies are conducted to the highest ethical and safety standards.

The roles are patient facing and the successful applicants will be able to make a valued contribution in assessing and managing the care pathways for patients participating in research. Prior experience of administering chemotherapy and other anti-cancer therapies is essential.

Experience of working in a research environment is desirable but we will offer candidates a comprehensive training program, therefore encourage applications from experienced chemotherapy nurses with a passion to work in research.

Main duties of the job

The post holder is a recognised expert in haemato-oncology treatments with an understanding of the research environment. He/she will take responsibility for the delivery of clinical research treatments, collaborating with key personnel throughout the trust and network to ensure continued care and support for patients involved in clinical trials. These trials may be related to anti-cancer including stem cell transplant treatment, chemotherapy, radiotherapy, gene therapy, ATMP and GVHD studies, symptom management or some other aspect of cancer care, such as screening.

The main focus of the role will be in supporting the delivery of the research portfolio through identification of suitable participants, patient recruitment, education and monitoring of patients within clinical trials. The post holder will be responsible for the safe administration of investigational medicinal products and will work closely with other members of the research teams to ensure studies are conducted according to ICH GCP guidelines. They will work with the investigators and wider research team to maintain accurate and comprehensive study data collection. The post holder will be supported to develop their clinical research skills thorough education and training and will be expected to provide cross cover for other research nurses as appropriate.
