Locum Consultant Diagnostic Radiologist

Job summary

Applicants are invited to apply for a Locum Consultant Radiologist post with a specialist interest in paediatric imaging (10PAs). The post has arisen due to maternity leave. Applicants wishing to work part time are encouraged to apply and will be accommodated if successful. Start date mid-August 2025 for one year duration. The post will be based at St Marys and Queen Charlottes Hospital. St Marys Hospital is a centre for paediatric infectious disease, paediatric haematology and oncology (Level 2). There is a large bone marrow transplant unit, a busy general paediatric department and an established PICU. There are two neonatal units across the two sites (St Mary's hospital & Queen Charlottes Hospital) with two dedicated NICUs. St Mary's Hospital is the paediatric trauma centre for north west London. There is a paediatric surgery service in combination with Chelsea NHS trust. The imaging department supports busy A&E departments, UCC centres and general practitioners.

The successful candidate will have completed formal training in radiology and will have experience in paediatric radiology.

Main duties of the job

The successful candidate's clinical work will involve reporting paediatric plain radiographs and cross-sectional imaging, performing paediatric ultrasound and fluoroscopy and attending paediatric MDT meetings. The candidate will be fully supported by the existing paediatric radiology team.

Close collaboration with the paediatric radiology team and clinicians in the management of patients will be paramount.

The appointee will contribute to the general work in the department, including duty "hot desk" reporting and general CT reporting. There is no-call commitment with this post however the post-holder will be expected to contribute to the "hot" duty rota reporting, evening and weekend general reporting rotas.

A strong interest in teaching and training will be welcomed to support the radiology training scheme, sonographers and reporting radiographers. There will be ample opportunities for audit and research projects in line with the candidate's interests.

The post will be mainly based at St Mary's Hospital, Paddington and Queen Charlotte's Hospital, Hammersmith.
