Job summary
Managerially accountable to the Divisional Director of Operations, (and professionally accountable to the Divisional Director), the General Manager for the Trauma, Orthopaedic and Neurosurgery Directorate will be responsible for providing operational and strategic leadership to ensure that the Directorate provides high quality patient care, patient experience and clinical outcomes.
The General Manager will lead the Directorate in the delivery of national access standards and local specialty ambitions within the allocated funding envelope and ensure all services are delivered efficiently and effectively. The development of collaborative working within the sector and beyond will be key to ensure that capacity is effectively optimised and that patient flow between Trusts is seamless.
Additionally the General Manager will work closely with colleagues within the Trust to influence strategic decisions both within the Trust and also across the North West London sector.
Main duties of the job
- Develop and implement effective reporting arrangements to accurately record and monitor performance against targets and to pro-actively manage any variances
- Provide regular reports to the Executive Directors with assurance that appropriate follow up actions will be completed.
- Support Lead Clinicians, Lead Nurses and Service Managers for delivery of their objectives through regular performance review meetings;
- Manage the implementation of systems, control processes and risk management arrangements to support monitoring of compliance with clinical governance standards, other Trust-wide policies and processes and best practice requirements;
- Manage the resolution of complaints, conflicts and issues from patients, staff, suppliers, other internal and external service providers and partner organisations in a timely and appropriate manner in line with Trust policy, procedures and service delivery values and priorities;
- Support, alongside the Lead Nurse and other clinical staff, root cause analyses and trend analyses of all complaints and adverse incidents
