Job summary
Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust (ICHT) is at the forefront of cancer care, receiving approximately 50,000 urgent cancer referrals annually. This staggering number underscores the critical need for efficient and effective patient management systems. Enter theCancer Analytics and Digital Service (CADS), a pivotal component in the Trust's cancer care strategy.
CADS is not just a service; it's a lifeline for thousands of patients. It meticulously manages and tracks each patient's journey from referral to treatment, ensuring no one falls through the cracks. By leveraging advanced analytics and digital tools, CADS provides real-time insights into patient pathways, enabling healthcare professionals to make informed decisions swiftly.
Main duties of the job
A key aspect of CADS's role involves accurately recording and updating patient data in the Somerset cancer information system. This includes recording staging, treatment data, diagnosis (ICD10 Codes), creating new pathways, and implementing upgrades as per CWT v12. Collaboration with clinical and administrative teams is essential to gather and verify this data, ensuring its accuracy and completeness.
Moreover, CADS is dedicated to maintaining data integrity by validating and cross-checking data from multiple sources. This rigorous process ensures that all data entry complies with national cancer waiting times guidance and tumour site-specific pathways. Any data anomalies are promptly addressed, with complex scenarios escalated for further investigation.
But CADS's role doesn't stop at management. It is a driving force behind continuous improvements in patient pathways and outcomes. Through data-driven analysis, CADS identifies bottlenecks and inefficiencies in the system, paving the way for innovative solutions that enhance patient care. This proactive approach ensures that patients receive timely and personalized treatment, significantly improving their chances of recovery.
