Job summary
This is a 6 PA substantive Consultant Dermatologist post based at St Mary's Hospital, Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust. The post has arisen as a replacement for a retiring post-holder. A key focus of the post will be running and developing the patch testing service, a long-established service with a strong reputation. Other roles include those of a general dermatologist. Applicants with experience of patch testing would be suitable for the role. Equally, this post could be suitable for applicants without prior experience of patch testing but with an interest in developing skills in this area.
The post-holder will be part of a cross-site team of thirteen substantive consultants, four specialist trainees, two clinical fellows, five dermatology day unit nurses, and four skin cancer clinical nurse specialists. This is a cohesive department which continues to engage in an ongoing programme of outpatient transformation, digitalisation and modernisation. A strong sense of teamwork, a commitment to developing the service, and an enthusiastic attitude to training dermatology junior doctors are all essential for the role.
Applicants must be on the GMC Specialist Register for Dermatology, or be within 6 months of obtaining Certificate of Completion of Training or equivalent at time of interview.
Main duties of the job
The consultant will divide their time between clinical work (80%), and supporting professional activities (20%).
Clinical work includes:
- Patch Testing clinic
- Adult General Dermatology clinic
- Teledermatology clinic for urgent suspected skin cancer
- Electronic Referral Triage for routine referrals.
- A monthly Complex Medical Dermatology clinic
- MDT attendance
On-call work (daytime and out-of-hours)
Non-clinical time will be allocated to maintain professional development and contribute to running the dermatology service.
