Job summary

We are looking for a dedicated and motivated individual to provide expert support and oversight for clinical governance, working within the Office of the Medical Director, and providing support to the Division of Women's, Cardiac, Clinical Support and Sexual Health Services.

This high-profile role will oversee a number of different quality governance processes within their division, bringing them together so that we are able to analyse data, develop insights and build learning and improvement into everything we do.

We're looking for an enthusiastic, proactive and persuasive individual who will undertake the role in a way that positively promotes learning and improvement, supports colleagues to excel in their roles and ensures we have have robust governance arrangements in place to effectively manage our services. Candidates will have experience of effective risk management, expertise in clinical governance, be skilled in data analysis and interpretation, and be passionate about delivery of high quality services in healthcare. The successful candidate will be actively involved in shaping the delivery of our services.

Main duties of the job

  • A key element of this role is to provide comprehensive support to the trained learning response leads who are undertaking patient safety incident investigations (PSIIs) within the division from a management and administrative perspective. You will provide support for all elements of the complex PSII process, tracking each case to completion, ensuring the terms of reference are set out clearly and in agreement with the patient or their family, that compassionate engagement is carried out effectively throughout the investigation process, and that the learning response provides answers to their questions as well as identifying essential systems learning for the service and the wider Trust. You will need to have an extensive knowledge of the new Patient Safety Incident Response Framework (PSIRF), as well as the ability to quickly build and maintain relationships with busy clinical colleagues. This will require on-site working for a minimum of three days a week.
  • The postholder is also responsible for overseeing compliance with quality and safety activities across the division, providing expert advice, data and analysis to support directorates to deliver on their responsibilities. The post holder will work with the divisional triumvirate to ensure that areas needing improvement are identified and managed by directorate teams.
