Job summary

To support the clinically-led digital programme in order to maximise benefits and also achieve significant operational process efficiencies and financial savings we are appointing 2 Project Support Officers. The post holder will take the lead for rolling out clinical functionality to wards and other clinical locations across the Trust's five main sites.

As a Project Support Officer you will have knowledge and experience of clinical and operational practice in NHS Acute Trusts and experience of an EPR system. You must demonstrate an understanding of how clinical and operational practice can be transformed and supported by electronic patient records and clinical systems.

It is important to be able to understand issues from the user perspective and ensure the deliverables of the project are aligned with stakeholder needs. Structured, systematic thinking to work to solutions is essential. You must also be able to articulate issues to and communicate with non-technical clinical and operational system users.

Main duties of the job

The Project Support Officer is responsible for the support of ICT projects undertaken by the Trust. He or she will support the Project Managers in the management and delivery of the project, using PRINCE 2 methodology and other NHS standards as appropriate.

1. To facilitate process review workshops

2. Produce 'Visio' process maps

3. To train and support staff for the introduction of new IT systems

4. To communicate redesigned processes at all levels and support their adoption

5. Deployment of standard project documentation templates to project managers undertaking new projects

6. Provide support to the project manager in the preparation of all project documentation including Business Case, Project Initiation Document, lessons learnt, etc.

7. Change control management and configuration management

8. Project auditing against standards defined by project control management

9. Provision of support to project managers through lifecycle of their project

10. Provision of support to project managers in all aspects of project management

11. Advise the project manager on the appropriateness of go-live dates

12. Provide advice to project managers in the preparation of project, stage and exception plans
