Job summary
Are you a dedicated, knowledgeable, tenacious HR Professional with experience managing Employee Relations cases, in particular sickness and absence? Are you looking for an opportunity to make a real difference on an interim basis until the 31st March 2025? If so, then this fantastic opportunity may be for you. This role has become available on a fixed term basis due to the substantive post holder being successful in securing a promotion as a development opportunity. This is a great opportunity for an HR professional to put their employee relations skills to the test as we improve absence and support wellbeing.
In the role of Absence and Wellbeing Senior Advisor you will work alongside a portfolio of specialist directorates within the Surgery and Cancer Division providing expert HR advice. You will work alongside specialist teams such as central investigation, recruitment and workforce information to ensure the best support is available to our colleagues.
Depending on experience, this role will be offered as either a band 6 or band 7 and comes with some scope to expand your future business partnering skills if of interest.
Main duties of the job
In addition to being the first point of contact for all HR queries for the directorate teams you will play an active part in reducing formal HR cases and improve all workforce metrics with a particular focus on improving absence. You will deliver this by providing high quality HR advice and leading wellbeing interventions to achieve:
o Efficient use of Occupational Health expertise through quality management referrals
o Skilled and confident managers who understand their role in managing complex health and wellbeing cases with a particular focus on sickness absence, preventing work place stress; managing stress related absence and employees with mental health conditions.
o Early, informal resolution of workplace issues wherever possible, working with the Resolution Specialist to triage and resolve these.
o Reduction in average time taken to resolve employee relations casework.
o Effective and efficient systems, policies and practices that support our managers with resolving employee relations matters.
o A suite of high quality, expert advice in managing employee relations casework including delivering training and online advice and tools for managers.
o Identifying opportunities for innovation and improvement in the health and wellbeing of our workforce.
o Provision of expert coaching, development and support to managers and shared learning to fellow HR colleagues
