Job summary
Are you passionate about clinical research and have experience working in a patient facing role within the NHS as well as basic lab skills?
We have an exciting opportunity for a highly-skilled, motivated and enthusiastic health care worker or life science graduate to join our well-established clinical research team, based at St Mary's Hospital, part of the Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust. The successful candidate will be working with experienced clinicians and research staff to support clinical, laboratory and administrative tasks. This includes, but not limited to venepuncture, vital signs recording, sample processing, scheduling patients, research data completion and general team admin.
You will possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills; you will be required to collaborate closely with colleagues and other research team members and the wider multidisciplinary team, to ensure the safety of patients throughout the trial.
You will be required to manage aspects of your own workload, so a proactive, flexible and mature approach is essential. The need for accurate records within clinical research is fundamental, so excellent documentation skills, a meticulous eye for detail and a good standard of IT skill is essential.
The post-holder will be part of a small and dynamic team, so must enjoy working independently as well as part of a team. Experience in an NHS setting along with the ability to comprehend complex medical terminology is essential.
The role is suited to someone who is organised, adaptable in their approach and has basic clinical and laboratory skills.
Main duties of the job
- The post holder will support the aims of the Trust and the NIHR clinical research network to improve the speed, quality, and integration of clinical research, through the successful delivery of clinical research in the NHS.
- The post holder will help support the co-ordination and administration of the day to day activity of the clinical delivery team and any specific research studies they are asked to look after. The main focus of the role will be in supporting the delivery teams with the collection and processing of biological samples, administrative tasks relating to clinical research, for example site files maintenance, data compliance.
- The post holder will ensure that any research undertaken safeguards the well-being of research participants and is conducted to ICH Good Clinical Practice.
