Main duties of the job

  • Strategic Leadership: Lead the development of a long-term learning infrastructure strategy, ensuring alignment with Trust and system-wide changes over the next 3-5+ years.
  • Digital Innovation: Provide digital leadership, exploring innovative learning solutions, including AI and e-learning advancements.
  • Compliance & Safety: Ensure the Trust meets all statutory and mandatory training requirements, supporting the reduction of serious incidents and risks of harm.
  • System Utilisation: Champion the effective use of existing learning platforms (LMS, career development platforms, etc.), driving improvements and efficiency.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Collaborate with senior leaders across the Trust, manage key external relationships, and report to various committees and boards.
  • Team Leadership: Manage the Learning Infrastructure & Mandatory Training team, promoting a culture of continuous improvement and inclusive leadership.

Essential

  • Educated to MCIPD or relevant masters Level qualification or equivalent experience
  • CIPD member or fellow or other relevant professional body with evidence of continuing professional development

Desirable

  • Project Management qualification or equivalent

Experience

Essential

  • Proven ability to manage complex projects within an NHS or equivalent setting
  • Experience of designing and implementing innovative learning techniques in a large organisation
  • Experience in audit/inspections, or compliance frameworks and/or working within framework of externally imposed standards
  • Experience of leading and managing a team

Desirable

  • Experience at leading Statutory and Mandatory Training agenda in a large complex organisation

Skills/Knowledge/ Abilities

Essential

  • Up-to-date knowledge of learning infrastructure (both current and emerging) and the creation of approach to maximise utilisation and user experience
  • Attention to detail and accuracy incl. advanced analytical skills with ability to draw insights from a wide range of data sources and present complex information in a way that is easily understood.
