Job summary
This Fellowship has RCS approval and the post is based primarily at Charing Cross campus with some sessions in the Royal Brompton Hospital and will be for a 12-month fixed period commencing October 2025. This post is suitable for a Specialist Registrar who holds, or is about to be awarded, a Certificate of Completion of Training (or equivalent). An intercollegiate examination in Otolaryngology, or equivalent is essential.
A dedicated time for research is incorporated within the timetable and the Fellow is required to pursue research and publications.
In addition the post holder would participate in the registrar on call rota.
Main duties of the job
The successful applicant will take on the role of Senior Rhinology Fellow based at Charing Cross Hospital. This will involving diagnosing and managing patients Rhinology conditions, treatment decisions, presenting cases at the Skull base multidisciplinary meetings and performing surgery both under supervision and independently. In addition, the Fellow will lead the inpatient team in managing post-operative inpatients and coordinate operating lists.
The post has an important educational role with teaching session for the junior medical staff, nursing staff and AHPs. Involvement in research and audit is encouraged and the fellow will be expected to take on such projects with a view to publication.

The innovative Rhinology service in Charing Cross Hospital is provided by 4 Consultants, a Rhinology CNS and a Rhinology Psychologist. Charing Cross is a major Tertiary Referral Centre for complex Rhinology, Septorhinoplasty and Anterior Skull Base.
This post will allow the successful candidate to further his or her knowledge and experience in complex endoscopic sinus surgery, septorhinoplasty and anterior skull base surgery. The successful candidate will work under direct supervision from Professor Saleh and play an active part in the workload of the department.
They will attend the combined Nose Clinic at the Royal Brompton hospital with Professor Saleh/Professor Durham and gain experience in managing a range of rhinological conditions. A substantial amount of time will also be available for operating parallel to other Rhinology colleagues and to involvement in MDT and managing joint cases with oculoplastic surgeons, plastic surgeons, and neurosurgeons.
There is the availability for the successful applicant to observe Rhinoplasty and Sinus Surgery in the private sector with Professor Saleh and/or join the fortnightly Neurosurgery skull base lists at CXH with Mr Nair and Mendoza.
Teaching Activity
There is a weekly teaching program for postgraduates at both the Charing Cross and St Marys campuses, the appointee will be expected to take a role in teaching and training of both undergraduates and post-graduates
Research activity
This may involve developing and playing a leading role in a research programme, leading to publications in peer-reviewed journals.
