Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust welcomes applicants to apply for a Vitreoretinal Fellow post in Ophthalmology at the Western Eye Hospital. This is a full time post within the service
For a fixed term of 12 months in the first instance.
The post offers an exciting opportunity for an energetic and innovative person to join the ophthalmic service for the UK's first Academic Health Science Centre and the largest trust in the country.
Applicants must be currently or previously been working within the NHS, have MBBS or equivalent and at least 5 years training in ophthalmology and be fully registered with the GMC with a license to practice.

Main duties of the job
The post holder will be involved in:
- Out-patient and surgical care of VR patients
- To be involved in the ad hoc care of vitreoretinal emergencies and to be available for advice when off site.
- To undertake an A&E session at the Western Eye Hospital, (at most once week unless paid separately)
- To maintain good communication with GP, optometrists, hospital clinicians and other allied professionals
- To provide teaching to medical students, other junior doctors, optometrists
- To assist in academic and pharmaceutical research activities within the department
- To vet referrals and clinics
- To assist in the management and development of the clinical service

To develop and maintain the competencies required to carry out the duties required of the post.
To ensure prompt attendance at agreed direct clinical care activities.

To take an active role in managing patient pathways in their respective area.
