Job summary
We require a Band 7 specialist speech & language therapist to join our highly specialist team for a fixed-term contract for 9 months to backfill maternity leave of a current substantive post-holder.
The role will primarily focus on providing essential outpatient clinical assessment and therapy to voice patients via both group and individual sessions. However, at times, the post may be required to support the SLT team capacity across inpatient wards and SLT-led and MDT outpatient clinics to support dysphagia and voice patients with benign ENT conditions.
Main duties of the job
As a Band 7 Specialist Speech and Language Therapist the post holder will be responsible for performing advanced assessment of patients with diverse presentations and complex medical, physical and psychological conditions, to develop and deliver an individualised management/treatment programme. Following assessment the post holder will be responsible for making therapeutic and/or clinical diagnoses and treating their own caseload of specialised and complex patients/clients and maintaining associated records.

- State registration with the Health Professions Council
- Evidence of CPD through maintenance of a portfolio, especially in the relevant clinical area

Experience
Essential
- Significant recent clinical experience in relevant clinical area
- Significant experience of working as an integral member of a multidisciplinary team and inter-agency working
- Experience of multidisciplinary goal planning, development of care pathways and using outcome measures
- Experience of organising and implementing training programmes for therapists, MDT members, support workers, students and apprentices
