Job summary
We are looking for an exceptional nurse to appoint to this key leadership post within our HIV and Integrated Sexual Health service based at St Mary's hospital in central London, and associated with one of the leading HIV and sexual health research units in the UK.
The successful candidate for this consultant nurse role will provide inspirational leadership, management and direction for the nursing team and play a lead role in defining, shaping and developing Integrated Sexual Health services within the trust.
Our ideal candidate will have extensive relevant experience within the field, expert clinical skills and knowledge, especially around contraception and STI management, and a track record of creating and delivering innovative services. Working collaboratively with colleagues, you will be a skilled communicator with a passion for education and staff development. You will place a high priority on maintaining a supportive and caring environment for both patients and staff, and on developing the highest standards of evidence based practice and achieving key quality metrics.
You will be fully supported in your role by the service and directorate leadership teams, with access to professional development opportunities and for developing your profile within and beyond the trust.
Main duties of the job
Provide professional, clinical and operational leadership with a highly visible and authoritative presence, ensuring the delivery of excellence in core, enhanced and advanced nursing practice, audit, research, and service and practice development agendas.
Expert practitioner in all aspects of Integrated Sexual Health, extending scope of practice and developing an advanced level of professional autonomy and accountability.
Provide workforce management and governance for the nursing teams in line with Trust values, processes and policies.
Ensure designated areas are effectively managed to deliver high quality, safe and responsive services, achieving key quality and safety metrics.
Promote and lead on service development and nursing innovations, ensuring they contribute to developing an evidence base meeting the needs of service users and staff.
Work in partnership with other professionals in the Trust and the sector, developing a strategic approach for the provision of Integrated Sexual Health services and other initiatives as appropriate.
Collaborate with consultant nurse (HIV / Integrated Sexual Health), Heads of Specialty and academic institutions to lead on education, research and practice.Play a leading role in the development of multi-professional research, establishing an evidence base practice in the specialty.
Contribute to the Trust's nursing and professional agenda and promote the Trust as an international centre of excellence and national leader in the speciality.
