Valentine Ellis Ward is a very fast-paced 24-bedded acute Trauma, Orthopaedic and Plastics Ward but works closely with our Major Trauma Centre so also facilitates patient flow for stepdown of Major Trauma, spinal trauma and non-trauma neuro patients.

Due to the nature of this busy environment and current climate, the job can at times be challenging but for the right person it is a very rewarding role. Ideally this would not be your first ward management role but would not be ruled out for the right person with the appropriate clinical and managerial experience. Main duties of the job

The Ward Matron post is vital in ensuring the department is well-led, responsive, safe, effective in a caring environment with overall responsibility for developing practice and process to improving standards of care for patients.

Staff well-being, development and workforce retension are paramount to the role to support staff retention to sustain the workforce.

The Matron is key to delivery of efficiently delivering the service within the estabished budget.
