An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the directorate of General and Vascular Surgery as Consultant Nurse within Colorectal Pelvic Health and IBD.
The post requires vision, innovation and the ability to work across professional boundaries, underpinned by a real desire to provide the highest standards of patient care. You will be a key member of the Senior Leadership Team and responsible for the delivery of excellent evidence based clinical and professional standards
You will be an enthusiastic and motivated individual with advanced clinical skills within Colorectal Pelvic Health and IBD and will be able to work autonomously and as a key member of the MDT.
The post holder will have an appropriate freedom of practice appropriate to seniority of the role and the job plan has the four traditional pillars of focus, namely:

- research and education
50% of the programmed activity will be allocated to direct clinical practice which includes conducting your own specialist clinic (within the realms of pelvic floor / GI physiology / LARS / IBD)
Main duties of the job
- Exercising a high degree of professional autonomy, acting as an expert, demonstrating advanced knowledge and skill in the provision of patient management, the consultant nurse will spend a minimum of 50% of their time in direct clinical practice across functional colorectal and IBD services in collaboration with clinicians across the Multi Disciplinary Team.
- Conduct their own specialist clinic (within the realms of pelvic floor / GI physiology / LARS / IBD) according to service and individual development needs, provide expert inpatient services to patients in the perioperative period and provide expert advice to other inpatient specialities.
- Make independent clinical decisions, by utilising advanced clinical reasoning skills and evidence-based knowledge in the management of patients with highly complex presentations and to be clinically competent to utilise expert skills to deliver care in a variety of clinical settings. This will include the initiation of investigations, directing and using the results of specialist investigations relevant to lower GI function to assist in the formulation of diagnosis and plans of care and treatment
