Job summary
Applicants are invited to apply for the position of Clinical Fellow in IBD, based at St. Mary's Hospital and Imperial College London. This 12 month fixed term post offers the opportunity to gain advanced IBD experience and undertake clinical development of the IBD service.
The successful candidate will participate in the gastrointestinal bleed rota (banded) and undertake regular training endoscopy. The appointee will be involved in approximately 3 clinics per week and 2 endoscopy lists and dedicated time for the post holder to perform audit and service development for the department.
The candidate will be supervised by Lucy Hicks (Clinical Lead for gastroenterology) and Simon Peake (Clinical Lead for IBD) and also have the opportunity to collaborate with the academic IBD clinicians, with potential for publications in IBD and / or the development of research interests.
This is an excellent opportunity for individuals with an interest in Inflammatory Bowel Disease; for motivated candidates who wish to develop their IBD experience and skillset.
A degree in Medicine (MBBS or equivalent) and full MRCP or equivalent is essential, as is full General Medical Council registration. They must have minimum experience as an ST4 in Gastroenterology.

Main duties of the job
There will be 3 clinics and 2 endoscopy lists and dedicated time for the post holder to perform audit and service development for the department. The candidate will be supervised by Lucy Hicks (Clinical Lead for gastroenterology) and Simon Peake (Clinical Lead for IBD) and also have the opportunity to collaborate with the academic IBD clinicians.
The applicant must have at least completed ST4 year in Gastroenterology. The successful candidate will participate in the gastrointestinal bleed rota (banded).
Candidates will need to be motivated to undertake improvement projects in IBD, and must be independent at diagnostic gastroscopy, and have the opportunity to train in colonoscopy. They must have experience of managing IBD in an in- and out-patient setting and will attend IBD and one general gastroenterology clinic. Working in a team of registrars, the post-holder may be required to look after Gastroenterology in-patients, participate in ward rounds and out-patient clinics as per the needs of the service.
