This job is now closed
Job summary
The Paediatric Emergency Department is excited to offer a substantive full time Band 6 position, to work within a dynamic clinical team supporting the acutely unwell child and family in the community. The PATCH Team (Providing Assessment and Treatment for Children at Home) aims to support early nursing led discharge from the acute admissions and clinical decision unit, avoiding admission to the inpatient wards.
This service transcend traditional nursing roles and boundaries between secondary care and the community, tackling rising pressures within the emergency department, reducing the number of avoidable paediatric inpatient admissions. It aims to empower families to self-manage conditions in the comforting environment of their own homes.
Encouraging collaboration across traditional boundaries enables experience, skills and expertise to be shared between different professional healthcare groups, and through education and working alongside families, we hope to support parents in becoming expert themselves.
This innovative service not only improves the experience for families, it also aspires to improve staff experience by providing support, education and variety to the nursing service whilst contributing to our reputation as a centre of excellence in the delivery of urgent care.
The successful candidate will be supported in their advanced assessment and autonomous practice by the PATCH lead consultant and the PATCH lead nurse
