Job summary
We are seeking to recruit three substantive, full-time, accredited pain consultants to join our department at Charing Cross Hospital.
The successful candidate will provide clinical services in pain, attending interventional pain clinics and outpatient clinics as part of a team-based approach for patients. We are looking for forward thinking enthusiastic knowledgeable applicants to support the routine services and look at the development of subspecialty pain areas such as sickle, pelvic, and palliative care support development There is the opportunity for candidates to also undertake anaesthetic theatre sessions at Charing Cross Hospital.
Charing Cross Hospital is a busy teaching hospital and regional/national referral centre for several surgical specialties, including neurosurgery, head and neck cancer, airway surgery, plastic surgery, major urology and complex colorectal surgery. In addition we have one of the busiest mechanical thrombectomy services for stroke in the UK.
Main duties of the job
For a whole-time contract: 10 PA's per week
Clinical Activities
Direct Clinical Care: 8.5 DCC's per week (including clinical activity and clinically related activity)
Supporting Professional Activities: 1.5 SPA per week (including audit, clinical governance and CPD)
Outline Timetable example is available in attached JD, days may change to reflect department requirements.
* 0.25 to 0.5 DCC's are to be delivered flexibly e.g. vetting of referrals or other clinical activity.
** These sessions can be swapped for acute pain rounds depending on the candidate's preference.
The anaesthetic sessions can be converted to full time Pain Clinic sessions or a suitable job plan can be discussed with the Lead Clinician and Clinical Director to suit your needs and that of the department.

We are focussed on equitable care and close working with our other specialties through interdisciplinary and multi-disciplinarypractice where required.

Anaesthetic sessions are a possibility up to a maximum of 0.5WTE.
