Job summary

The Urology Service at Imperial sees approximately 26,000 outpatients and undertakes approximately 5,000 surgical procedures per year. In addition to general urology surgery, all consultants have subspecialist skills. The Urology Service is currently based at Charing Cross Hospital. The research focus is on diagnostics and treatment for prostate cancer and benign prostate disease. There is a strong focus on surgical innovation, this has led to Imperial holding a national referral practice for Rezum and Focal Therapy for Prostate Cancer.

The post will be focused on the management of Benign Urology pathways including Surgical Andrology, Stones, Male Lower Urinary Tract Symptoms (LUTS) and Functional Urology. ICHT is a regional referral centre for complex Andrology and was recently designated as a European Academy of Andrology training centre. ICHT has a high volume stones unit offering a range of non-invasive and surgical treatments. The service offers an innovative One Stop clinic for Male LUTS to provide a range of diagnostic tests at the time of first appointment. This post holder will manage the administrative function for the Urology Outpatient Department at Charing Cross Hospital (3 North).

The post holder will work as part of a multi-disciplinary team alongside consultants, junior doctors, nurses, pathway co-ordinators and the business manager to ensure that the service delivers safe and effective care to our patients.

Main duties of the job

  • The Service Support Manager is responsible for managing the people, processes and performance of Imperial Urology's inpatient, outpatient and diagnostic services as delegated by the Business Manager. This includes taking overall responsibility for ensuring that an efficient administrative function is maintained at all times. The Service Support Manager will undertake delegated improvements to improve patient experience as well as to meet departmental key performance indicators. The post holder will provide leadership for Urology inpatient and outpatient areas, including ensuring that effective communication is sustained.
