Job summary

An exciting opportunity at Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust has arisen. The vascular scanning department is one of the largest in London which covers services over three sites, Hammersmith Hospital, Charing Cross Hospital and St Mary's Hospital. We have close relationships with the consultants and the LAVVU team, especially at Charing Cross with clinics, scanning rooms and a LAVVU theatre all on the same floor. We are seeking another Clinical Vascular Scientist to join our large team of 13 clinical vascular scientists plus 3 STP students. Our job involves an interesting case load, we perform the full spectrum of vascular scans, plus specialist investigations such as AV fistula, TCD, TCCDfor sickle cell and mesenterics for MALS and nutcracker syndrome.

We are seeking an experienced Senior Clinical Vascular Scientist to work alongside our Principal Vascular Scientist. Your responsibilities will include leading at our Charing Cross site, ensuring the department is running a robust, efficient and effective clinical service. You will also be taking an active role in leading the department through IQIPS accreditation and leading the departments audit programme. We support continued professional development, with interests in research, teaching or the SVT actively encouraged. Non-clinical time is allocated for CPD and unit responsibilities.

Main duties of the job

  • To undertake, interpret and report ultrasound scans and other tests for vascular conditions, working autonomously at a senior level, and provide clinical supervision to the vascular scientists as required
  • To oversee the day to day operations of the Imperial vascular service, working across the 3 departments (one on each site)
  • To ensure that each site is sufficiently staffed to meet demand and that vascular scientists are appropriately supported to carry out their roles
  • To deputize for the Principal vascular scientist as required
  • To delegate specific roles in the day-to-day management of the department and allocate specific duties within the service to the vascular scientists, for which they will be expected to be responsible.
