Job summary

The role of the assistant research practitioner is to assist and support the Clinical Research Nurses/Clinical trials coordinators in ensuring effective research delivery of malignant haematology studies across the Trust. The post holder will support the co-ordination and administration of the day-to-day activity of the research delivery team. The post holder is expected to perform administrative tasks relating to clinical research, for example, site file maintenance, data management, maintenance of spreadsheets, study financial trackers and kit inventory logs. The role also involves undertaking clinical trial procedures such as taking physiological measurements like ECG and vital signs, venepuncture, specimen collection and processing from participants in our clinical trials. You will be required to interact and engage with participants throughout the study period, answer any questions, liaise with multidisciplinary teams and various stakeholders to facilitate pre-screening and screening of participants suitable for our study portfolio.

The post holder will be an accountable professional and have the ability to work without direct supervision; within the parameters of practice by undertaking a range of duties appropriate to the level of responsibility and knowledge and skills acquired. They post holder will ensure that any research undertaken safeguards the well-being of research participants and is conducted to ICH Good Clinical Practice

Main duties of the job

  • To support the research delivery teams in the facilitation of efficient, safe and participant focused research
  • To demonstrate an awareness of the life cycle of a research project from inception to study close out supporting all administrative protocol related tasks.
  • To act as the first point of contact for the research office dealing with both face to face and telephone enquiries and correspondence in an effective, courteous and timely manner.
  • To liaise with sponsors, research staff, and clinicians as appropriate to complete trial documentation.
  • To be responsible for the day-to-day organisation of the research office, handling mail, maintaining adequate stationery supplies and ordering of necessary clinical and research supplies and equipment.
  • To work in accordance with Good Clinical Practice (GCP) and research governance standards for clinical research studies.
  • To collect data from patient medical records and transcribe to Case Report Forms (CRF) as per GCP.
  • To ensure maintenance of Investigator Site Files, delegation logs, training logs, screening logs, study financial trackers and research kit inventory logs

Essential

  • Diploma level qualification or equivalent training and/or experience in Science or Healthcare Or Registered Nursing Associate

Desirable

  • Diploma/degree in research or healthcare/science.
  • Care Certificate.

SKILLS/ABILITIES
