Job summary

You will be part of the team providing Cardiac Diagnostic Services for the Imperial College Healthcare Trust and Cardiac Community in the field of Ecocardiography. The Trust has three main sites providing cardiac diagnostic services, namely St Mary's Hospital, Charing Cross and Hammersmith Hospital.

As a senior practitioner in Echocardiography, you will be independently perform a range of highyly specialised cardiac ultrasound investigations including adult and child transthoracic, 3D and contrast (for left vetricular opacification) echocardiograms, assisting with transesophageal echocardiograms, performing accurate and reproducible measurements and quantification, interpret findings and independently issue (sign-off) final clinical-techncally diagnostic reports, to a highly competent professional standard.

You will also assist the Principal Echocardiographer to provide and organise the day-to-day clinical-technical services in the Department and Community. This will include carrying out some administrative, environmental and housekeeping tasks as well as having professional responsibility and involvement in organisatiional and supervisory issues, as appropriate to the grade/level.

You will assist the Principal Echocardiographer in the supervision, training and informal teaching of multidisciplinary staff in techniques and the underpinning knowledge, in which the post-holder is considered fully competent

Main duties of the job

  • You will undertake highly specialised echocardiographic investigations including adult and child transthoracic , 3D and contrast echocardiograms and assist with transesophageal echocardiogram utilising a range of advanced techniques.
  • You will perform standard and complex measurements and techniques of quantification.
  • You will interpret findings and independently (sign off) final ckinically diagnostic reports, to a hightly competent professional standard.
  • You will assist the Principal Echocardiographer in organising and carrying out the daily work allocation of the Department.
  • You will help monitor and maintain the standards of quality achieved by the Echocardiography service and also in developing the services in terms of quality, safety, efficiency and cost effectiveness in accordance with CPG and Trust policy, whilst developing one's own professionalism and expect knowledge and skills.

  • Qualified for HPC Registration (BSc degree or HTEC & suitable equivalent experience).
  • Higher academic qualification (BSE Accreditation + MSc).

EXPERIENCE

  • Competency, highly specialised knowledge, and advanced practioner level skills and at least 3 years postgraduate experience in Echocardiography.
