Job summary

Highly Specialised Physiotherapist - Rotational across Haematology and Oncology Team.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Physiotherapist with a passion for Oncology and Haematology to join the Haem-Onc rotation. You will be the senior therapist within each rotation and work collaboratively with the MDT including Palliative care, Neuro-oncology and respiratory therapists as part of the integrated Physiotherapy and Occupational Therapy team.

We are looking for dynamic, forward thinking and passionate therapist with excellent leadership, communication skills and advanced clinical skills, to join the team and deliver high quality, timely care. You will possess the ability to remain calm and professional under pressure. It is important that the successful applicant is a team player with a positive outlook, enthusiasm and ability to learn and develop new skills.

You must be able to demonstrate sound knowledge and experience in Oncology and Haematology possessing highly specialist assessment, treatment and risk management skills. The ability to work autonomously, but also well within a multi-disciplinary team is essential, as is the ability to promote the role of Therapies and the implementation of evidence-based practice. In addition to the clinical caseload, the post holder will have the opportunity to play a key part in the development of the Therapy service and the team.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will be part of a therapy service meeting the needs of a multi-cultural and diverse population. As a senior member of a committed team they will be responsible for providing an advanced standard of physiotherapy care to Oncology, haematology and palliative care patients at Charing Cross Hospital (CXH) and Hammersmith Hospital (HH). The post holder will complete annual rotations between the haematology inpatient/palliative care services at HH and the Oncology, neuro-oncology & palliative care services at CXH.

The post holder will assist the multi-disciplinary team by contributing to the planning, co-ordinating, delivering and evaluation of the physiotherapy input to the trust's Oncology, Haematology and Palliative care service. The post holder will be a resource for specialist advice to the physiotherapy service and other professions for this speciality area. Supported by a Clinical Lead and Clinical Service Lead, this post holder will have the opportunity to participate and lead in quality improvement and service development projects.
