Job summary
Are you looking for a fresh challenge within community? This could be your first matron role or an opportunity to gain community experience. This will be a fixed term post for one year which is vital for supporting the transformation of our community midwifery service. We need someone with drive and a passion for improvement, promoting high quality, family centred care, which is evidence based and sensitive to the individual needs of the family.
You will be leading five group practice teams comprised of seven midwives and three maternity support workers. This will be focused on ensuring that women receive continuity in the antenatal and postnatal period. You will also be working closely with the matrons for caseload and the birth centres in order to provide a home birth service.

You will ideally work at least 30 hours per week and be a car driver. You should also have a flexible approach to working within a team providing a 24-hour service, facilitating birth in all settings including home, our midwifery led-units and labour wards.
Main duties of the job
- Manage and lead community caseload team's cross-site.
- Act as an effective and positive role model, providing expert clinical advice and support for all staff
- Demonstrate clinical leadership in the management of women booked for the caseload teams.
- Identify and facilitate strategies for service improvement and potential development initiatives.
- Implement and follow HR policies to manage sickness, absence and disciplinary matters.
- Facilitate effective communication with clients and all staff within the multi-disciplinary team.
- Manage and assist in resolving conflict situations and investigate and respond to complaints.
- Participate actively in the management of all maternity services, deputising for the Lead Midwife where required.
- Work collaboratively with the consultant midwife and senior team to advance the maternity strategy
