An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced physical activity specialist to become part of the dynamic and proactive Imperial Cardiac Health & Rehabilitation Service. Imperial Healthcare NHS Trust is the UK's first academic health sciences centre and provides an internationally renowned tertiary cardiology and cardiothoracic clinical service and has a strong track record in both clinical and basic sciences research. For this challenging and fulfilling post we are seeking to recruit an enthusiastic individual with in-depth knowledge and understanding of the physical activity components of cardiac rehabilitation.
You will be a BACPR qualified physical activity instructor or equivalant with relevant clinical experience in a wide variety of physical activity settings. This should ideally include a minimum of 12 months experience in delivering cardiac rehabilitation within a cardiac rehabilitation setting. You will need to be very enthusiastic about this area of work as well as being self motivated, possess good organisational skills, and be able to work independently as well as part of a team.
You will be responsible for providing expert clinical practice in the field of cardiac rehabilitation. The post holder will also act as a resource to other professionals on cardiovascular disease and associated treatments and issues. You will be taking part in ongoing audit and research activities to maintain quality care provision.
Main duties of the job
- Provide specialist physical activity advice to support and facilitate high quality, individualised care to patients/clients and relatives/carers without supervision in collaboration with the multi-disciplinary team in line with local and national targets
- To provide strategic leadership in delivering the Cardiac Rehabilitation physical activity programme in Imperia
- To mentor and manage the junior Physical Activity Specialists in the Cardiac Rehabilitation team
- Provide expert advice and guidance to their line manager in the management of the physical activity component of Cardiac Rehabilitation. This will involve dealing with complex situations and having to take appropriate action in a variety of settings
- To be flexible in the approach to the clinical area and to provide cover for any area specified acting as professional role model providing direct and indirect care, teaching and research

- Registered Clinical Exercise Physiologist (CEP) BSc in relevant exercise & health related degree with BASES CEP/AHCS CEP registration.
- or Exercise Instructor Ongoing registration with CIMSPA at Level 4, together with extensive experience in early/core rehab.
Desirable
- Relevant CPD Activity i.e. Postgraduate studies in related field (CPD Modules, Cert, Dip, MSc, PhD) or working towards this; BACPR Study Days/Conference/EPG etc.
