Job summary
Locum Registrar post (full time) for the Rheumatology Department at Hammersmith Hospital (HH). We deliver out-patient, in-patient, and Rheumatology referral service across the three main hospital sites. The post is mainly based at the Hammersmith but, in exceptional circumstances, the post holder might be asked to provide SpR cover for the Charing Cross (CXH) or St Mary's Hospital (SMH). We received an estimated 177 referrals/month, we have a dedicated Early Inflammatory Arthritis and specialist Lupus and Vasculitis clinics. We regularly review inpatients form other specialties in the Trust as requested and electively admit Rheumatology patients as needed. We accept transfer of inpatients from other wards or Trusts as we are a tertiary referral centre for specialist rheumatology. We are active in several research activities including basic science, translation research, national and international registries and randomised clinical research trials.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will contribute to outpatient clinics, not more than 5 clinics/week, and review referrals and rheumatology in-patients at Hammersmith and Charring Cross Hospital. They will advise the clinical activities of the nurse specialists' team and support the day to day duties of the department. There will be opportunity to develop an interest in connective tissue disease or vasculitis and gain experience in the management of complex rheumatology patients both in the outpatient as well as in-patient setting.
