An exciting opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated nurse leader to join our 22-bed acute stroke ward at Charing Cross Hospital on a fixed-term basis (9 month secondment). 9 South is an acute stroke unit specialising in post-stroke acute care and rehabilitation.

This Band 7 Ward Manager post requires an enthusiastic, driven and passionate leader who empowers their team to deliver high standards of care. You will demonstrate that you possess and promote the Trust values and incorporates these into your practice. You will work collaboratively across teams to deliver positive patient outcomes, you will aspire to continuously develop and share your knowledge with your team, and you will be an expert in ward management and stroke nursing. Above all, you will lead with kindness and understanding.

Main duties of the job

  • Leading the ASU team to deliver high-quality, safe and compassion care. The WM will also provide assurance to the Trust that programmes of care for patients on their ward meets agreed standards.
  • Use specialist knowledge and competence to effectively lead their team and produce positive patient outcomes and experiences.
  • Will maintain accountability for their practice and ensure their team is also accountable for their practice and professional development.
  • Support the Lead Nurse to ensure that safe staffing levels/skill mix is maintained and put in place measures to ensure this both in and out of hours.
  • Contribute to quality and service improvement plans, including participation in ward accreditation and Pathway to Excellence activities.
